Today they call it Light Design: we at Albatros Ristorazione have been talking about lights for decades now. Our choreography manager, including lights, is Rosy, who you have all come to know over the years having hundreds of small and large events under her belt. Rosy has always used lights, colours, shadows and various shades to highlight the objects displayed for your decorations and the details on your special day.
How to talk about Light Design in a wedding?
Well first of all the distribution of lights must meet aesthetic and functional criteria.
Let's talk about outdoor lighting. We have always used lights to illuminate external spaces, paths, lawns, trees or gazebos created in the midst of hidden groves: external lights are needed to illuminate the path and not only that but also to make the atmosphere, the greenery outside, fairytale-like the trees, the meadows even during the night. This is why we love using outdoor lanterns. We have lots of them, of all sizes, we distribute them everywhere, they have a retro look and give a magical allure to the environment but they are also extremely functional. In fact, not all guests are used to living in the countryside, or are young athletes even in heels and sometimes the paths inside our farmhouses, our ancient villas in the countryside can be dark and a little with broken-down grounds dotted with steps here and there. Here, clever additional lighting also makes the difference in terms of safety also..
As regards other outdoor lighting, we have used chains of lights for years that have a very Country look and which we use for example to illuminate farmyards, outdoor places, long tables.
Interior lighting. For the internal rooms we have always opted for soft lights, think of beautiful lampshades or the faint fire of candles; they are certainly touches of light that give the environment a certain romanticism and we have always opted for combinations of lights, flowers and mirrors that have always been successful. We have also been using decorations with luminous letters for years, important words, guests' initials, Love, For Ever. Then there are tables that must be expertly illuminated like the sugared almonds: it represents a special moment, full of abundance from which people can draw on any time of the event, even late at night. You can approach them to taste sweets and even take a few handfuls home, hidden in your handbag, thinking that no one can see them but that's the beauty: we all hope that they like them!
Not to mention the lighting of the cake cutting location which is an event within the event. We at Albatros Ristorazione carve out dedicated corners with a click-proof scenography that will be illuminated with candles hanging from a ribbon, candles enclosed in glass bowls, candles around the cake, small lanterns on the table and around it.
So by Light Design we mean a generic choreography of lights ranging from chains of light bulbs to starry skies, from suspended chandeliers to candelabras to external beams of lights: so on and so forth.
